Data
The list is the problem, not the reps

When outbound underperforms, the first instinct is usually to look at the people making the calls. Sometimes that is right. More often the team is working faithfully through a list where most of the rows were never reachable.
Lists rot quietly
Nobody sold you bad data on purpose. People change jobs, direct lines become switchboards, numbers get reassigned, companies restructure. A list that was clean when you bought it decays steadily, and nothing in a typical stack marks the row as dead. It simply sits there looking exactly like a good record.
The result is that a rep spends most of the week proving which entries were already worthless, which is not a job anyone hired them to do.
What the week actually looks like
- Six hundred dials made.
- Around a quarter reach a live line at all.
- Of those, a third are the right person.
- Fewer than one in twenty of the original dials becomes a conversation.
Hire a second rep against the same list and you have simply bought the same ratio twice.
The cheaper fix
Find out which numbers are live before your team spends the week discovering it. The work is identical either way; the difference is whether a person or a system does it, and whether you pay for it in salary or in data.
